Unique Ind. pageant gets its wheels rolling

INDIANAPOLIS (WTHI) - Each year, you may notice different beauty pageants going on throughout Indiana, America and the world.

Each year, however, there’s a unique line of state and national pageants that highlight the importance of women in wheelchairs.

People On Wheels’ Ms. Wheelchair Indiana Pageant announced its 2013 program and calls for entrants to the 2013 Ms. Wheelchair Indiana competition.

The program will take place on March 16th at the Indiana Historical Society in the beautiful Eli Lilly Hall at 450 West Ohio in Indianapolis, and this year the winner will receive a cash prize of $1000.

Entry Criteria:

  • • Woman between 21 and 60 years of age
  • • A U.S. citizen
  • • Use a wheelchair or scooter in public    
  • • Have resided in Indiana for the last 6 months
  • • Marital status is not a criterion      
  • • Communication skills and advocacy of the disabled are specially valued
