Fork in the Road: Best Tenderloin Winner

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - For the past week, News 10's chief photojournalist Mike Latta and his band of "Professional Eaters" have visited and sampled the top three voted nominees for best tenderloin in the valley.

Their journey started in Linton, Ind., where the crew met at J.P. Meurer's Fish and More.   It was a tough start for the group, because they faced a tenderloin they thought couldn't be matched.

With the bar set high, the band of eating brothers, and sister, traversed to Terre Haute with the taste of a great tenderloin lingering on their lips.  The second stop of their journey led them to a relatively new restaurant: the Delish Cafe.

The Delish Cafe brought unique European flavor and a panko bread crumb crunch to their tenderloin, which wowed the crew.

Chris Wood compared the first bite to the experience of biting into a potato chip stuffed with meat.  However, it wasn't just the crunch that caused our judges to sit back and admire what they had the privilege of eating.  It was the vast amount of flavor, along with the tender meat that made the meal.

At that point the group was torn, looking into the third nominee with a bit of despair.  They seemed so certain they had a clear winner, but with the second tenderloin in their gullet, the lingering aroma of the European spices clouded their judgment, and they worried about what tender greatness would tingle their taste buds next.

If the third tenderloin was anything near the caliber of the first two, Latta and the gang would face a long night of voting a head.

The final stop placed them at Park Avenue Diner, a dainty diner packing a big punch with their food and flavor.

Park Avenue brought a whole new element to the table for the crew: size.  Every bite was filled with solid flavor, as the eaters navigated their mouths around the massive size of the tenderloin. 

With the last bite down, the crew faced the hardest decision they would have to make: who had the Wabash Valley's best tenderloin.

After much deliberating, the crew were torn. The voting split in every direction.

Once the votes were added up, the results clearly show that Delish Cafe, with their unique flavors they bring to the table, is News 10's Fork in the Road choice for the Wabash Valley's Best Tenderloin!
