Fork in the Road: Best Cheeseburger

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - The fateful day has come: deciding the Valley’s best cheeseburger.

The private food investigators, headed by food detective Latta sat at the precinct through Thursday night into Friday, trying to come up with their votes.  Gary the bearded wonder sat on a chair in the corner wearing a bowler hat and manacle, blowing bubbles very purposely out of his green and orange toy bubble pipe.

Like little kids unable to sleep on the night before Christmas, the crew sat wide awake, with visions of Rosedale Country Kitchen’s, Moonshine’s and New Goshen Pub’s burgers putting on an imaginary talent show, shouting “Pick me!” while they sing and dance.  Needless to say, the crew faces a tough decision.

Rosedale Country Kitchen offered a unique spin on a giant burger, taking two Texas toast grilled cheeses and placing and equally large burger in-between.  The flavor was superb, but was it too much?

Moonshine Store’s burger was something nearly out of this world.  The crew argued the beef was cooked with true love, and the flavors from first bite to the last were spot on.

New Goshen Pub’s burgers were hypnotizing.  During the burger’s creation, the flavor aroma that’s released during cooking could put any mere mortal in a trance, that can only be broken on first bite.  The burger is delicious and the friend mushroom sides will bring a new joy into your life.

From a small edit bay at the station, the crew emerged through plumes of dainty bubbles springing forth from Gary’s toy bubble pipe.  They all agreed that it was time to vote.

The crew placed their votes in privates.  The votes were then secretly counted, and now the results are in.

From the News 10 and the Fork in the Road private food investigators, we would like to extend a our congratulations to Moonshine Store for the winning the Wabash Valley’s best cheeseburger!

We would also like to congratulate the two nominees for having an excellent cheeseburger of their own!

And so, food detective Latta and his crew of private food investigators close one of the toughest cases they’ve ever had to take on. 

As Latta was brushing his notes—actually, they were pages and pages of cheeseburger drawings—inside his briefcase, something caught his eye.

It was picture of a pie!
