TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - News 10 caught up with workers from Hoosier heating and cooling in Terre Haute.
They say they've been flooded with calls since the heat has moved in.
There are lots of people needing repairs and wanting installations.
They say it's important to maintain your air conditioner so you don't have to face these dangerous temperatures with a broken unit.
“Keep their filters clean, also keep their outside condenser coils clean when it gets this extreme weather, it's real easy for the coils to get plugged up, and overheat the air conditioner and then even sometimes burn up the compressor or the fan motors in them, “ John Bays, from Hoosier Heating and Cooling said.
More advice, workers say you should leave your air conditioning on to conserve energy, and save money in the long run.
