TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A Huntingburg, Ind. food company is considering plans for a $65 million turkey processing facility in Vigo County.
The company, Farbest Foods , is also considering a feed mill and a brooding hub which would bring the value of the project to $100 million, according to information from the company.
The facility would create more than 300 new jobs, the company reports.
Company officials said that, to set up the facility, they would need to contract with 60 to 70 farmers in west-central Indiana and east-central Illinois.
They are holding two informational meetings on Thursday, one in Terre Haute at noon and one in Sullivan at 6 p.m.
Organizers of the meetings said space will be limited, and they are taking reservations, which are available through the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation at (812) 234-2524 or by email at ctanoos@terrehauteedc.com.
