TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A former bully has altered her life for the better, and is being recognized for it.
Tante Robinson started the mentoring group, Girls of Excellence, which helps counsel teens, mainly girls, who are victims of bullying.
Robinson goes from school to school encouraging students to make the right choices.
It's the reason why she's September's Make a Difference Award winner, presented by Frontier Communications.
News 10 presented the award Wednesday, while Robinson was attending a prayer meeting at Terre Haute South Vigo High School.
"I get calls everyday from young people who are suicidal, who are struggling with things: of who they are. What their purpose in life is. So, that's why I do it," Robinson said.
She's gone from being the bully to being an advocate, and parents said it's wonderful to see.
"It's very obvious that Tante has a heart for the children, for the kids. The reports are that she's getting good success and reaching them," Tanna Fox, a high school parent said.
