Bikes for Tykes

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Many children in the Wabash Valley may not have a Christmas this year. But you can help give some of them a gift they will remember forever.

WTHI-TV 10, Exchange Club of Terre Haute, First Financial Bank, and HI-99 will be collecting your monetary donations all day on Friday, November 20, for the 2009 Bikes for Tykes campaign.

Your donations go to the purchase of bicycle kits, which are then assembled by Rose-Hulman students.

Forty-five dollars will cover the cost of a bicycle and a safety helmet for each child. However, donations of any amount are greatly appreciated by all those involved.

"Many of our parents will even break down in tears because they know that they can't get their child any gift for Christmas and this may be the only gift they get this year. So it's a very worthwhile project," principal at Sarah Scott Middle School Mark Miller said.

If you'd like to make a donation, just stop by our studios, located at 918 Ohio Street in Terre Haute, on November 20 and we'll help make the holiday season a little brighter for as many needy children as possible.
