Joe Astrouski joined the WTHI news team in January 2011. He works as a general assignment reporter and weather forecaster.

Joe came to News 10 from Eastern Illinois University, where he worked as a reporter for WEIU-TV News Watch. During his time at Eastern, he spent a semester in Keene, NH, where he covered the 2008 Presidential primary for the Keene Equinox student newspaper.

While in college, he had a strong interest in global media, and spent a semester in Dublin, Ireland studying European politics and international journalism. He also won a journalism fellowship in Japan and Korea through the Roy W. Howard National Reporting Competition. He is especially grateful for the chance to spend time in Haiti, getting to know the warm and resilient people there.

In summer 2009, Joe interned at KETC-TV (PBS) in St. Louis, MO, where he helped develop stories for the Web. A year later, he interned at WCPO-TV (ABC) in Cincinnati, OH with the station’s investigative i-Team.

He is also a proud member of the White Castle Hall of Fame (Class of ’07) and a native of Belleville, Ill. He enjoys fishing, hiking, cooking, woodworking and playing music. He especially enjoys service work, and has been involved with various community organizations.

Joe is excited about getting involved here in the Wabash Valley. He’s also excited (and a little humbled) to work as part of such an outstanding news team.
