celebrating -- one business took advantage of the growing crowds to raise awarness for a special cause. news 10's garrett explains. pubs are a great place to gather with friends and family. especially on special occasions like st. patrick's day. that's why one restaurant and bar in terre haute wanted to help out some local big cats! 7th and elm was lively saturday. helping those wearing green celebrate this irish holiday. but the popular pub wanted to do more than just help their patrons celebrate this year. "any little bit we can get. someone to come out here, hear about them then go out there to check them out that's helping them, that's helping the community." that's why a portion of 7th and elm's earnings is going to the exotic feline rescue center in center point. it's a sanctuary for nearly 200 big cats ranging from lynx to lions. many of which were abused or neglected. "it is, its a lot of work everyday. these guys are not cheep, they're not like a house cat or a dog. they take a little bit more so the up keep is quite a bit." it takes roughly two thousand dollars a day to run the facility. they do receive donations from visitors, but sometimes it's not enough. that's why the rescue center was so happy to receive support from this local watering hole. "it really means a lot to me because they are really good people so the fact that they can take what a lot of people like to do like eat and drink and put it towards a greater good it really means a lot to us." as for 7th and elm, they are just glad to make saturday not only a day of having fun with friends. but also a day to support a local rescue agency in need. "hopefully the weather will be great for that and people will come out and we can make this money for the exotic feline rescue center just helping them out where we can. big positive circle and that's what community's about." if you would like to donate or learn more about the exotic feline rescue center go to our website at wthitv.com. back to you. some kicked off their holiday with
