TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - Young people in the community are learning what it takes to be a leader.

On Thursday, dozens of people met for the first "Terre Haute Leadership Conference."

The conference featured speakers from different backgrounds.

The keynote speaker talked about work/life balance.

The Terre Haute Young Leadership Group hopes to inspire young professionals to be great leaders.

"It's based on their position, their title...that everybody has something to offer to the Terre Haute and Wabash Valley community. So, I hope this will inspire them to see what their natural ability is," Courtney Chipll, the Chair of the Terre Haute Young Leaders said.

The Chamber of Commerce helped sponsor the event.

They hope to host similar events in the future.
