VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Honoring those who protect and serve our country; the South Vermillion community did just that on Friday.

They held a Veterans Day ceremony at the high school. Students, staff, parents and others filled the entire gym.

Speakers honored the service men and women while the band played patriotic songs.

One veteran we spoke with says it's very important to teach kids in school, about military history.

"I think the Veterans give a lot of heart, blood and tears in this service some of us didn't have a choice - a lot of them signed up,” said Military member John Natale. “I feel bad for the ones who didn't make it back."
