TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - A local service dog is up for some major recognition.

Meet Floyd Boesch and Precious the Dog.

They stopped by WTHI's studios on Wednesday.

Boesch is currently a student at Indiana State University.

Precious is a mobility service dog.

That means she can help her owner get around.

She was nominated for the "Hero Dog Award."

It's a nationwide award for service dogs and other K-9s.

Boesch says Precious is his hero.

"I tell ya what, a service dog is part of you without service dogs, I think there'd be a lot of people in trouble," Boesch said.

He said there are 265 competitors for the Hero Dog Award.

You can go cast your vote for Precious!
