TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Donuts are delicious, but are they worth stopping a train for?

A video shared with News 10 Wednesday morning has angered some Terre Haute residents.

It shows a train stopped and blocking an intersection.

It's a common thing in the city, but Wednesday's reason may surprise you.

Check out the video sent to us by a viewer Wednesday morning.

It shows a train stopped on the tracks near Square Donuts on Wabash Avenue.

The train is actually blocking the rail crossing at Ohio Street.

The viewer told News 10 he saw a man getting off the train and going into the restaurant.

News 10 spoke with an employee at Square Donuts who confirms a CSX Conductor stopped in Wednesday morning around 9 a.m. for donuts.

What’s worse, they say it's not the first time!

Workers tell us they’ve seen maybe two conductors in the last year and a half.

However, they say the trains typically stop in the wee hours of the morning.

So here's the big question, did the train purposefully stop to get donuts, or was there something bigger happening that the train had a reason to stop?

News 10 spoke with Alex Bedecki who lives and works in Terre Haute. He says he’s no stranger to being stopped by trains.

Here’s his take. He says, "I mean if it's a legitimate reason, I’d say that's fine. Who doesn't like Square Donuts? They're pretty fantastic! If you're going to be sitting there for a while and you know it, why not? I would definitely be extremely upset if he just stopped and decided, 'Square Donuts is right there.'"

News 10 has reached out to CSX about the incident.

A representative from CSX gave us this statement:

“CSX works hard to minimize the impact of our operations on neighboring communities while we serve customers. We take concerns about employee conduct very seriously and will look into this incident. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.”
