KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) - Indiana State Police releases information as to why U.S. 41 was shut down in Knox County Wednesday evening.
ISP Sgt. Todd Ringle reported around 8:54 p.m. on Wednesday that both southbound lanes of U.S. 41 just south of Oaktown were shut down. This was due to debris in the road.
Sgt. Ringle explained that items of clothing were located scattered along the road that had blood on them. At the time police did not know if an accident had happened so they shut down the road.
Later in the evening it was discovered that the items located along the road were connected from a suicide case reported earlier in the week in the county.
Police report the items fell out of a vehicle and were then scattered along the road by traffic.
Both lanes were back open around 11:30 p.m.
