dietician over at paris community hospital and today we're going to be talking about how to have a heart healthy diet and why it's important. to eat a heart healthy diet means to pull back on the animal protiens, not getting in as much cholesterol, which is where you're going to see that, cutting back on the saturated fat, and trying to work in more fiber. really, everybody should be eating a heart healthy diet, we always think of those who already have heart disease, and that they should be the only ones eating a heart healthy diet, but really it should be everyone, from a prevention standpoint. it's important to eat a heart healthy diet to help prevent the onset of heart related diseases, that could be coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, things like that, basically keeping you out of the hospital and keeping ticker still going. so saturated fat is the kind of fat that really contributes to developing heart disease, this is the fat we're thinking of when we think of clogging our arteries. transfat is another big one that can contribute to that. unsaturated fat is our more heart healthy fat, that is completely okay to have. if you want more information about a heart healthy diet talk to your doctor and they can get you a referral to a registered licensed dietician. disclaimer. break 4 [f1]weather recap-2shot we sink into the upper 20s tonight with clouds
